Cameron pledges support for planning reforms . . . 06 October 2011

In an echo of Margaret Thatcher, David Cameron used yesterday's speech wrapping up the Conservative Party Conference to call for a "housing revolution" whereby all Britons could reasonably aspire to own their own home. In his speech, he confirmed that the Government would bring back Right to Buy and use the money raised to build more new homes. The prime minister gave short shrift to those opposing planning reforms, saying that currently, businesses could not expand. He said they were 'stuck in the mud of our planning system'. Cameron added: "My message is this: take your arguments down to the job centre. We've got to get Britain back to work." |
